INDOOR WORKOUTS AT KINETIC SYSTEMS

If you've ever been to our store you know we are not the biggest in town, but at last nites workout we broke a 25 year old record with 27 folks at the workout. My oh my. We must be doing something right! Try it out sometime ..... Tuesdays at 7pm. bring your bike, trainer and towel and give it a try,,, its not your average indoor workout. Plus the yoga class afterwards, who could ask for more.

STATE CROSS CHAMPIONSHIP

The State Cyclocross Championship Race, will be next Sunday December 6th. at Springfield Oaks Metro Park in Davisburg. There will be an award ceremony and party after the race in the administration building with plenty of food refreshments, in fact its Robert's, from Tailwind, birthday so we are going to also have some cake as well. So come on out and watch the race or better yet come out and race.

Basic Maintenance Classes

Its that time of year again, yep, time for Dougs famous basic maintenance classes.
Three dates to choose from

The info for the classes are..........
Sunday Dec. 20th, Sunday Jan 10th., and Feb 14th.
Classes run from 12 till 4pm. with a snack break in the middle. The class size is limited to 10 folks.
These are basic maintenance classes, how to really fix a flat, on the road quick fix, derailleur and brake adjustment, and a general over view on how those darn things work. Cost is $35. Call for more info or to sign up.

We will also be offering some overhaul classes so check back for dates and times.

SCARY RIDE '09

It's that spooky time of year again when the trees change colors, leaves fall to the ground, and ghosts and goblins come out to play. We will be celebrating this most beautiful time of year with our annual Scary Ride on Sat. Oct. 24th. The ride will leave from Jeff's house in Ortonville at 7pm or when it gets dark enough. Bring your headlights, warm clothes, maybe a little snack to pass, and a musical instrument if you play one. This will be a no drop ride, very casual, but very fun. After the ride enjoy a huge bonfire, snacks, drinks, and hopefully some live music from the Jeff and Jack Jug Band. For more info you can of course call the bike shop at (248)625-7000.

Salsa stem recall and more

I (Matt Ashley) recently found out about a recall of a small amount of Salsa stems that may break during riding. Salsa of course has stepped up and informed their suppliers and customers of the danger and will be replacing those stems ASAP. I'm sure that we here at Kinetic Systems have some customers with a stem affected by this recall. So, if you have purchased an El Mariachi 29 inch MTB or a La Cruz CX bike from us please contact the store immedietly. Speaking of Salsa Bicycles, Louise arrived back from the Frostbike show last week and was able to check out some of their latest lineup. The latest from Salsa is the Fargo. The Fargo is a very unique adventure touring MTB which has been highly anticipated by much of the cycling community. The Fargo comes with 29 inch tires, drop bars for mulitple hand positions, disc brakes, and a whopping 6 bottle cages. Other changes include the new paint scheme on the ever popular Chili Con Crosso. As you all know, we love 'cross here and this bike doesn't dissapoint with a light-weight scandium frameset matched to a custom painted Alpha Q CX20 fork. Clif Bar and Lara Bar recall

I'm sure a lot of you have heard all the news about peanut butter being linked to the salmonella outbreak lately. We have just recieved notification from Clif Bar and Larabar about a voluntary recall on a few of their products. If you have any of these products please bring them into the shop and we will take care of everything else.

The folks at Larabar are asking for customers to bring in all PeanutButter Cookie bars that have been purchased in the past year.

MAVIC R-SYS UPDATE

Mavic will replace all R-SYS front wheels at no charge, but replacements won't be until spring. Due to this inconvenience Mavic will send a " PAIR " of aksium wheels to use will you wait for the R-SYS and to keep after the R-SYS arrive. R-SYS wheels must be returned to a mavic dealer. Call us if you need more info.

ENERGY BAR BRIGADE

We can now recycle those energy bar wrappers we never knew what to do with, here at the store. For every energy bar wrapper we recycle TERRACYCLE will donate $.02 to a non profit organization of our choice. So save your Cliff Bar, Luna Bar, Power Bar, Balance Bar, Nature Valley Bar, etc. and bring them here to the store and we will recycle them. No candy wrappers or wrappers without a foil lining please.
Terracycle, will then take the wrappers and upcycle them into accessories and products. For some more info on how you can get involved go to " terrecycle.net "

MAVIC has issued a voluntary recall of its R-SYS front wheels. According to Mavic you should stop using the R-SYS front wheel immediately. We called Mavic USA and they are working out the details with the CPSC and will have them to us early next week. Give us a call if you have any other questions or call Mavic USA @ 800 664 9228

INDOOR WORKOUTS AND YOGA CLASS

For those of you who hate to ride an indoor trainer alone we have indoor trainer workouts every Tuesday nite from 7pm. till 8pm. These workouts tend to focus on posture, position and relaxation on the bike. So come on out, bring your bike your trainer and yourself.
